Albus Environmental’s Alternative Treatment Plant is Powered from 86% Renewable Solar Energy

November 11, 2023

Albus Environmental, the clinical waste service provider based in the South East of England have recently completed their new solar array at their Rochester alternative treatment plant.

This move to solar is part of the company’s strategy to enhance their sustainable credentials when offering their customers a cost-effective solution that delivers not only on their promise to provide added value but also supports the company goal towards an entire net zero operation.
This array will make the process of treating orange bag waste (via alternative treatment) more than 86% self-sufficient through renewable energy in its chain of operations.

Environmental Benefits

Solar panels play a significant role in reducing carbon footprints and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Solar panels will help mitigate climate change and preserve the environment by harnessing clean and renewable energy from the sun. The new solar array will reduce the C02 emissions off this site by 16,228 kg per year and over a period of two decades will save the equivalent of over 14,052 trees, which is a woodland the size of 12 football pitches.

Solar Power Forging a Sustainable Roadmap

Albus Environmental are strengthening their operations with their zero to landfill guarantee alongside swapping out single-use clinical waste bins to re-cycled plastic that will not only tackle environmental impact but will also save their customers money.
This installation will help Albus Environmental deliver benefits to the local environment as well as cementing its position as a leading sustainable service provider in the clinical waste industry.

Andrew White, Managing Director at Albus commented;

This installation is another positive move for our business, as a clinical waste service provider, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do and we have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet. We are looking forward to the many benefits this solar investment will bring to both our business and our customers in the short and long-term. We intend to continue to look at ways we can challenge this industry so that we are operating in the most sustainable way possible.
